The Society

The society was formed in Carmarthen, West Wales, in November 1996 with the intention of marking the six hundredth anniversary of Owain Glyndwr's revolt in September 1400.

On September 16th 2000, the exact anniversary, a memorial was unveiled in Machynlleth, the town where Glyndwr held his Parliament.

Owain Glyndwr

Owain was one of the greatest patriots Wales has ever known.

His name has become a symbol of pride and freedom.

He sacrificed everything for a dream of Wales as a nation, governing itself with its own institutions and universities. Where he died is not known, and the location of his grave has become one of the great mysteries of Welsh history.
